Heritage Cars specialised in building sports racing cars in small numbers. Mostly Jaguar based, the firm had the expertise and equipment to set up these fast cars properly.
In the early days they raced them themselves both here and on the Continent. They built around 65 C types improving them gradually as they did so. This example is one of the last half dozen. They also built a few SS style Jaguars, Lister Knobblies, and finally a couple of 450S Maseratis with 4.7 Kramsin engines with co-operation from Cameron Miller. They built their own immensely strong tubular chassis. The cars were designed and made more for practicality and performance rather than as exact and slavish copies. The C type bodies, all in GR8, although moulded from an original (owned by Aubrey Finberg) have slightly larger cockpits and more legroom. They are very strong and not nearly as vulnerable as aluminium and they dont rattle. Wheelbase and track are correct and steering is pleasantly high geared due to special steering arms. One of the Heritage C types was outright winner of the Carrera Pan America re-runs driven by Alaine de Cadenet.

This particular car was assembled in 1993/4 under weekly supervision and incorporates a number of details not seen on any other example. It has done 15,000 miles since, all on public roads. Used for runs for pleasure largely in the summer. Some on the continent, Mille Migla etc. 15 painted wire wheels were chosen in order to use the best tyres available.
A number of minor alterations have been made since the car was put together initially, mainly cosmetic and for practicality. In particular the spare wheel compartment at the rear has been altered to provide space for luggage, a special jack and emergency tyre repair aerosol. The alteration can be reversed if required by removal of a single nut holding the new floor. Mechanical alterations include the fitting of a late petrol injection head and mildly sporting cams by Heritage. The Webbers were remounted flexibly, rejetted and choked. The water pump has been replaced. The gear change linkage rebushed and the outer rear wishbone bearings renewed. Oil and filter have just been renewed.
Just 2 owners and known to each other and just 15,000 miles travelled.
