One of the most successful light armoured reconnaissance vehicles ever made, with approximately 4,500 produced for over 35 countries, the Ferret, unlike many of its kind, is genuinely useable and can be safely driven by just one person
Fully road legal with a range of 200 miles and a top speed of 60 mph (both forward AND reverse!) this vehicle will go almost anywhere with its full time 4x4 transmission
Built to a specification, rather than a price, with superb engineering throughout, it is powered by the Rolls Royce B60 4 litre engine producing 130 bhp and driving through a five-speed preselector gearbox
Ferrets were available in a confusing number of variants, largely differentiated by the thickness of the armour and the type of weapons or missiles that they carried. This is a Ferret Mk2, arguably the modt user friendly with its larger turret. To add icing to the cake, it is still fitted with the correct Browning .30 calibre machine gun (now deactivated, of course).
This Ferret is believed to have had only two private owners since being ‘de-mobbed’. The previous owner was a local military vehicle collector who has had it for almost 11 years. At the time of his purchase it had run virtually no miles at all and the current incredibly low mileage of 1,069 is believed to be genuine. It has always been garaged and normally serviced during his ownership and is said to have always proved totally reliable.
The vehicle comes with a detailed driving and maintenance manual and all its original military equipment It will therefore appeal to the military aficionado as well as to any person with a love of good machinery.
It will certainly upstage everything else in the supermarket car park – or the paddock at Goodwood.
