1934 Alvis Speed 20 SC

This car has had three owners from new
and possesses a comprehensive and well
documented history file, covering
its owners, restoration and maintenance.
The original 2762cc. 6 cyl, triple carb engine
(19.82hp RAC rated), was replaced at
the Alvis factory in 1940 after the original engine expired whilst on a journey to the north with a
near identical 19.85 hp rated engine that was available whilst the factory wes engaged in war time manufacture.
Like all of the later Speed models,
it has synchromesh, on all four gears
and a top gear ratio, that makes
long distance touring very comfortable.
The overall mileage of the car as shown
on the odometer (60,000),
is thought to be accurate.
It has been in regular use, in recent years.
Recently the car has been subject to
comprehensive restoration by Red Triangle,
involving; the replacement of timber
from the boot to the 'B' pillar,
cosmetic treatment to the bodywork
and chrome metalwork,with an ivocie of some £26,000
The suspension and braking system has
been stripped, cleaned and all necessary
components replaced.
The gearbox has been overhauled,
the engine stripped down,
crankshaft re-ground, new camshaft fitted
and con-rods and main bearings fitted.
All electrical components have been
repaired or replaced as necessary
and the car has been re-wired.
Headlining and carpets have been renewed
and all trims and fillets have been refitted,
cleaned and polished.
Window rubbers have been replaced.
Interior leather upholstery is all original
and has a lovely patina.
New tyres have been fitted.
