This car was supplied new originally to aristocracy in Scotland by The Western Motor Company of 70, Buchanan St, Glasgow. It remained in the original family's hands until about 20 years ago.

It then went to a noted Silver Ghost restorer who painstakingly took the car apart & brought its mechanics back to as-new specification. Since then the car has covered just 2,000 miles as evidenced by the odometer that was set to zero after the restoration. As a result the car starts readily & runs with an uncanny silence & smoothness, unmatched by other cars of the same era.

Delaunay Belleville cars may be compared to Silver Ghosts in that the engine is a 6 cylinder model with the blocks cast in two banks of three cylinders.

The car is presented in impeccable condition with much originality. It sports a commodious touring body in beautiful condition with many period details such as its wonderful Bleriot brass headlamps. The spotlamps are "Phares Besnard" individually numbered units. (No 1855 in this instance.) A boa constrictor type horn is mounted outside the body. The coach work is finished in a deep green with red pinstripe accents. The interior leather is perfect & the rear seats benefit from fitment of a protective auster screen.

The car rides on original patent "Challiners" artillery wheels.

The distinctive round radiator is in excellent condition & is unmistakeably Delaunay Belleville, evoking instant recognition amongst the cognoscenti much as does the Rolls Royce item.

The engine of the car, a 4 1/4 litre unit, is a masterpiece with individual brass "egg cup" primers for each cylinder. One has to hear & drive this car to appreciate how good it is. The four gears are engaged by pushing the lever forwards sequentially with each gear being separated by a neutral. It becomes intuitive after just a couple of miles.

The canvas top is in good condition & erects easily for covered motoring.

Cars such as this rarely come to market & will make a wonderful centrepiece to any serious collection. It is in effect a French Silver Ghost. She is VSCC dated & comes with VSCC certificate no 1845
