MG B -Sebring Replica
With four successive victories for the Mini on the Monte Carlo Rally under its belt, the BMC Competitions Department set its sights on an MG entry at the Sebring endurance race in 1967 as the next major challenge. This was to be the first major Works race programme for the MGB GT, having been introduced the previous year. As the B GT had not yet been homologated for competition, it was run in the prototype category, with GRX 307D, the well proven and Marathon winning roadster - complete with hardtop - entered in the GT Class. This, crewed by Rhodes and Makinen, was powered by a 1824cc unit, whilst the B GT, in the stewardship of Hedges and Hopkirk, used a 2004cc unit. Both cars finished third overall in their respective categories, with the B GT being awarded a class win on index.

MGC GT Downton Tuned
As you can see the dash is not standard, the police had it modified and fitted the following:
Leather dash board and console.
Some extra gauges are fitted, like Vacuum from downton manifold; Battery & Clock; Drivers air intake - all others are standard. Some switches beside the stereo are not used but were for the electric windows (they loved their electrics in the 70's!)
I found the downton numbers, I think they read: 0363 (or 8363) also above this is 45 (number) and 50.5 (degrees)
I could have miss-read it and the number 45 was 43, this was the class of conversion fitted as stated in the paperwork.

The car has a Heritage certificate which confirms that it was a home market RHD model and is fitted with the original engine. The body is in excellent show condition and mechanically it is A1 with good oil pressure etc. The carbs and distributor are reconditioned and the engine has been
thoroughly serviced, although there is noevidence of a re-build (but it doesn't need it).

1954 MG TF 1500
It is a LHD vehicle and was first licensed in Michigan, USA in 1955. I have a copy of that licence as well as complete documentation including a certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. The car was purchased by an UK company in 1989 and completely restored there. I have the photographs of the restoration. The engine was completely overhauled (at a cost of 11,000 Swiss francs) in Geneva in 1994. From the receipts I have, one can see that the previous owner had over 81,000 Swiss francs invested in the vehicle. It has spent most of the time under a cover in my garage. Since purchasing the car, I have purchased a new half tonneau for it from Moss Motors in the UK and have replaced the fuel pump and the rear brake drums.
