1958 Bentley Park Ward S1 Continental Coupe
Chassis number: BC36DJ
This Bentley S1 Continental Coupe was one of two Park Ward coupes imported from the factory to South Africa in 1958 by the Ovenstone family.
The current owner of 36 years bought the car in 1977 from its second keeper, a Mr. V. Smiedt. At this time the car had done 96 000 miles and had always been in Cape Town and serviced by the local agents, Grosvenor Motors.
In 1991, the car began a major, bare-metal restoration in Cape Town, The body and interior were done by Concourse Classics using Conolly hides and the mechanical work by the successors to Grosvenor, Brian Porter Motors, under the supervision of their technical specialist, Ray Gregory. The work was completed in 1993.
At that time the car had covered approx 145,000 miles, and today this has gone up to approx 151,000 miles.
For a while, the car was based in Johannesburg, where it was looked after first by B&R Services and then by Howard Joyner at PL Motors.
The car underwent a complete front-to-back mechanical check including an overhaul of the brakes three years ago.
The interior remains in good condition, and the car is mechanically sound and runs well.
The car is currently located in Cape Town South Africa.
