1968 Jaguar MkII 240 Sold - £POA

Comperhensively rebuilt in 2004 by an experienced engineer, this 1968 Jaguar MkII 240 is one of the most useable classics around.

after being used as daily transport for around ten years, the car was taken off the road and stored indoors until being transferred to an enthusiast in North Lincolnshire in 1986. he completely dismantled the car down to the last nut and bolt and everything was put into storage. Nothing more happened until 2004 when all the parts were bought by the engineer who rebuilt it to the specification you see below:

Body
• Shell cleaned off, repair sections welded in where required
• New jacking points, crows feet and front cross member
• Front wheel arches fitted with repair sections, one door corner replaced
• Rear bumper quarters replaced
• Etch primed, primed and whole car repainted in original colour of Midnight Blue
• Wet flatted and polished (subsequently detailed in last year)

Underside
• Dead straight mostly original body
• Original sills with minor repairs
• Original floors with minimal repairs
• Undersealed and Waxoyl treated
• New copper fuel and brake lines
• Stainless steel exhaust
• Stainless braided brake pipes
• Fuel tank rust-proofed
• All new rubber bushes & mountings, nuts bolts & fittings
• Brand new hubs and spinners, MWS XW all chrome wire wheels
• New Hankook tyres

Trim
• Bumpers, rear lamps and boot plinths all re-chromed
• All other original chrome and brightwork cleaned and refitted
• All new seals including doors, glass etc
• Period number plate
• Re-Connollised SIII XJ6 front seats with recline, lumbar support and electric rise & fall; fitted on custom made front sub-frames. Grey leather
• Matching rear seats tailored to fit properly
• Matching new coverings on door panels and centre console
• New kick plates
• New headlining and wool carpets (including boot)
• All wood fascias (front and rear) repaired and re-polished by cabinet maker
• Classic Steering Wheels 15’’ riveted wood rim wheel treated to match
• Inertia reel seat belts front & rear

Mechanical
• Engine completely stripped and all parts checked & inspected
• New rings (bores ok)
• Crank re-ground
• New shell pump, timing chains and tensioners, valve guides, valves, seats etc
• Radiator re-cored, heater re-built, all waterways cleaned out, new core plugs, water pump etc
• Suspension stripped, painted, new ball joints, bearings, shocks, rubber mounts and bushes
• New (up-rated) 4.25:1 brake servo and master cylinder; new seals, pads and discs
• New (up-rated) 9.5’’ clutch (The 240 delivers more power than the original Mk II 2.4)
• Re-built gearbox and addition of re-con O/D unit
• Power rack & pinion steering conversion with mechanical pump
• New U/Js, Prop balanced
• Carbs overhauled
• All new hoses etc

Electrical
• All instruments and switches stripped cleaned and polished and professionally overhauled & re-calibrated as required.
• New coil, distributor overhauled
• Wiper motor overhauled
• New (up-rated) alternator
• All new wiring
• Kenlowe fan (automatic)
• Clarion Radio/CD and footwell speakers
